Bastrop CATS 2020 Annual Report

On March 18, 2020, Austin Humane Society closed the community cat clinic that we utilized to sterilize our community cats due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. They remained closed throughout 2020. Bastrop CATS was able to quickly develop partnerships with Bastrop County Animal Shelter and Save an Angel to continue our TNR work along with our long term partner Bastrop Vet Hospital. We ended 2020 as our most successful year for TNR:

Bastrop CATS quickly regrouped with new partnerships after AHS closed. In August, we broke our record for the most cats fixed in one month: 209!

In 2020, we sterilized 721 females and 487 males. Between 2018 and 2020, we sterilized 1,449 females and 1,080 males.

Of the 721 females TNR’d this year, 102 were pregnant, 107 were in heat, and 27 were lactating.

In 2020, 790 were adults over 1 year old, 121 were juveniles between 6 months and 1 year, and  280 were 6 months or younger.

In the past three years, nine cats total had microchips and 52 cats had been previously altered.

51 total cat were sent to rescue:

  • 10 moms with 18 kittens
  • 3 heavily pregnant moms
  • 17 kittens (orphaned and juvenile)
  • 2 adult cats
  • 1 injured cat

Thank you to everyone who helped make 2020 a successful year! Whether you fed colonies, fostered, donated, hosted traps, participated in stake outs, told us about a colony, or wished us well, you made a difference in nearly 1200 cats’ lives!
