Eileen Haag, 1971

Eileen and Morgan Haag started volunteering at their local county animal shelter in 2012 for Morgan’s required volunteer hours in her school’s National Honor Society chapter. Eileen had always been an animal lover growing up and passed this onto her daughter, who also grew up passionate about cats. The more they volunteered together, the more they both realized how overcrowded the shelter was with unwanted cats and kittens. They realized this was a problem without a local solution in place yet. Morgan helped her mother throughout many days of fostering, adoption events, and the eventual founding of Bastrop CATS to create their own solution. Eileen recruited a team of like-minded volunteers who were also passionate about creating change in the community and began to grow Bastrop CATS into the organization that it is today.

Today, Morgan continues to support Bastrop CATS while attending medical school. She is dedicated to serving her community and giving a voice to those in need, cats and humans alike. She is the also proud mother to her fur baby Riley– a Bastrop CATS alumni! Eileen continues to serve as the president and founder of Bastrop CATS. Over the last 5 years alone, Bastrop CATS has successfully spayed/neutered over 5,000 community cats and Eileen has received leadership awards for her contributions to the community.
