So, what are Community Cats?

Also known as Outdoor Cat, Stray Cat, Alley Cat, Feral Cat, Street Cat or Barn Cat.

Community Cats are generally not socialized to humans, although some may be friendly cats that once had a home and now do not. Most of these cats are feral, meaning that they have reverted to a wild state and no longer are socialized to humans at all.

Feral cats will bite or scratch if cornered, so do not to try to handle or pet them.

Stray Cats, cats that previously had a home, and may have gotten lost or been dumped by an owner, are friendly and may be scared. Stray cats that are injured or starving need help.

Barn Cats are Community Cats that have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated, but not returned to where they were found because it was too dangerous or for another reason. Instead they have been placed in a new home; a barn, stable or warehouse, to be working cats catching rats and mice.

Trap/Neuter/Release, TNR, is a humane program to spay/neuter and vaccinate Community Cats to prevent unwanted, homeless litters of kittens being born. They are returned to the community they came from.
